Chain-belt combination conveyors convey material on thick rubber/PVC belting that has hinged chains attached to each side. The rubber/PVC surface carries the material while the high pull-strength chains handle the belt’s loading and tracking functions. This method allows for heavy loads to be conveyed and makes it a good choice for applications where materials are bulk-fed onto a conveyor.
Since the rubber/PVC belting provides an impervious surface, this conveyor style is a good option to convey material that may contain grit and small-sized particles. However, chain-belt combination conveyors are not a good choice when the conveyed material may contain sharp edged items or material with protrusions that could cut or puncture the belt. In these applications, a steel-belt conveyor should be considered.
